At Southwest Area Training Service, our mission is to support those we serve to live independent, self-determined lives by fostering an environment where people are empowered to make their own choices, pursue their aspirations, and actively participate in shaping their journey through life.
At SWATS day site we are dedicated to developing habilitative activities that support our people in reaching their life goals. From job shadowing to assistance with filling out applications to community inclusive activities, we strive to meet any and every need our people may have. We understand the obstacles our people may face and we pride ourselves on taking a true person centric approach.
Provider operated homes that are 24/7 staffed by trained direct support professionals. Individuals learn daily living skills, health maintenance and social skills while providing an environment where people have continuous choices.
Provides support and teaching opportunities for those living independently in their own homes, this includes daily living tasks, health and home maintenance.

For children and adolescences ages 5-18 that need supported after school, and when school is not in session. Our support professionals will be trained specifically for school aged children to ensure that all needs are met and that parents receive a sense of comfort while their children are in services.
Respite is a short-term service you can utilize when a caregiver is unable to support an individual outside of day services. This could be a few hours or days when needed.
Individuals who choose to find competitive employment are supported to maintain and succeed with that employment by trained support professionals.
Mandy has 7 years of experience as an administrator and 15 years of experience as a curriculum director at a college in Colorado. Mandy brings a lot of knowledge to SWATS and ensures the agency is compliant throughout, financial oversite, the implementation of regulations, and many more administrative duties. Mandy's empathy and patience is admirable and her passion for the job never wavers. Mandy is determined to progress SWATS and have a positive and steady relationship with the community and surrounding areas. With her leadership, Mandy aims to build a team of strong, patient and dedicated staff members that envisions the growth and overall progress of Southwest Area Training Service.
With over 30 years of lived and professional experience within this field, Kayla, as our Client services specialist, advocates for each individual and ensures all needs are being met while promoting the best work practices and policies. Kayla implements new services and consistently prioritizes community outreach and inclusion. Kayla is always willing to discuss possible growth opportunities and is truly committed to the success of our individuals while being dedicated to overall agency progress in the forever changing field in which she works.
Jeannine is the definition of a leader and has displayed true dedication to this field of work as displayed throughout over 43 years of employment with SWATS. Before working here, Jeannine was a volunteer for the Children's Development Network. Jeannine began her career with SWATS as a college student needing a job, however, she fell in love with the with the profession and decided to stay. Her vast array of knowledge and dedication to our individuals and agency is truly remarkable and appreciated by those who have had the privilege of working with her. Jeanine strives every day to support individuals to be as independent as possible.
Kevin has been involved in this field for 22 years, and it continues to be his passion every single day. Currently he serves as the Vocational Coordinator, where he continuously supports individuals with their daily habilitative goals. This includes contract work for local companies, helping to find jobs or volunteer opportunities within the community, and engaging in inclusive community activities. Kevin displays his dedication to the job everyday although, he states, "That this work does not feel like a job, it's something I truly care about". Kevin is committed to doing whatever he can to help the people we serve accomplish their goals. His mission at SWATS is to provide the support and foundation our people need to achieve independence and thrive.
Darla has been employed with SWATS for 6 years and has many additional years of lived experience within this field. Darla oversees the residential services provided by SWATS, to include respite services. Darla is not only a dedicated leadership member, but she also brings knowledge as the Emergency Preparedness Manager. Darla has taken on numerous roles throughout her time with SWATS, as the Residential Coordinator, Darla ensures all residential homes maintain compliance, making disaster plans, and that the homes remain stocked on all necessities. Darla strives to continue building a strong residential staff team that supports each individual served live their best lives while exploring growth opportunities and new adventures.
Our goal here is to provide a space in which individuals with different abilities can earn money in a creative and passionate way. A space where their talents can be showcased and they can feel a sense of empowerment by earning additional income in a way they enjoy. SWATS wants to thank the community for their support.
